<br> if the ballot paper is lost before the counting is complete
Before the completion of the counting of votes, if a ballot paper or a ballot box containing a ballot paper is illegally taken away from the control of the election officer, opened, damaged, vandalized, lost or damaged by accident, the election officer shall suspend the work of counting the votes and report it to the Commission immediately. .
(2) Upon receipt of the report as per sub-section (1), if the commission deems that any investigation should be conducted in relation to such incident, the commissioner or the monitoring team of the commission may be appointed to conduct the investigation.
(3) On the basis of the commission's report as per sub-section (1) or the report of the commissioner or the monitoring team assigned to investigate as per sub-section (2), such ballot paper or ballot box has been illegally taken away, opened, damaged, vandalized, lost or accidentally damaged from the control of the election officer. If it is determined that the counting of votes cannot be resumed because of that, all the ballot papers of the polling station affected by such action can be declared invalid and the voting can be cancelled.
(4) In the polling station where the polling has been canceled by the Commission in accordance with sub-section (3), the election officer shall immediately publish the notice in the polling station specifying the place, date and time of re-voting.
